Agriculture Development Programme

About

The Agriculture Development Programme for Tribal People in Umrangso, Dima Hasao Hills District of Assam, North East India, has been supported by MANOS UNIDAS, Spain since April 2023. The project aims to uplift the socio-economic status of rural farmers by enhancing agricultural productivity through a systematic and comprehensive approach. Its key objectives include building the capacity of farmers for effective resource management by providing support services such as training, field demonstrations, technology transfer, improved input supply, and extension services.

The project directly targets 400 farmers including women and indirectly benefits approximately 2,000 family members across 12 villages by increasing household incomes and improving overall livelihoods. The primary beneficiaries are small and marginal farmers, with a special focus on women and youth from underprivileged backgrounds. Particular priority is given to unemployed youth (both male and female) aged 18–35, especially school dropouts with a strong interest in agriculture.
