Bosco Reach Out-Development Through Empowerment

Jal Jeevan Mission

About

Bosco Reach Out has been empanelled as a partner and Implementation Support Agency (ISA) under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Division of Hailakandi district, Assam. The organization supports the PHE Department in achieving the Government of India’s vision of ‘Har Ghar Jal,’ which aims to provide Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) to every household by 2024. As an ISA, Bosco Reach Out plays a key role in facilitating community awareness, capacity building, village-level planning, and implementation of the scheme. The organization has been assigned a target of 27,958 households across 45 villages in two blocks—Katlicherra and Lala—and 11 Gaon Panchayats in the Barak Valley Division.

Bosco Reach Out successfully completed all field-level activities under the Jal Jeevan Mission project by the end of 2023, including awareness programmes, formation of village and GP-level committees, and preparation of Village Action Plans (VAPs). Water User Committees (WUCs) were formed under each scheme and provided with capacity-building training. In 2024 – 2025, a total of 176 out of 180 WUCs successfully opened bank accounts in their respective banks. Four WUCs faced technical issues, leading to delays in account opening. Rectification efforts are underway, and the remaining accounts will be opened soon. Through this engagement, Bosco Reach Out ensures active community participation and ownership of the scheme, contributing to sustainable and inclusive rural water supply management in the region.
