Bosco Reach Out-Development Through Empowerment

Children at Risk Education (CARE)

About

The Children At Risk Education (CARE) project has been actively serving remote villages in the Kokrajhar and Chirang districts since 2000. After Bosco Reach Out (BRO) taking the project from the Don Bosco Institute (DBI), it has supported 1,037 underprivileged children. Currently, the project operates 13 schools.4 schools were listed under the Non-Residential Students Training Centre (NRSTC) scheme in 2023. Currently the project is reaching out to 728 students and it has 15 teachers. With the support of Child Aid Network, Germany, BRO continues to provide basic education to children in need, helping mainstream them into middle and high schools, and eventually empowering them to pursue meaningful careers and lead dignified lives. The CARE project advocates for the Right to Education and has plans to provincialize all its schools.

Beyond education, the project aims to uplift the overall living conditions of children and their communities. School Management Committees (SMCs), with external support from BRO, have taken the initiative to renovate school infrastructure. This reflects a strong sense of community ownership. The CARE project’s participatory, grassroots approach promotes local empowerment and ensures that infrastructure development meets the actual needs of the community, laying the foundation for long-term, sustainable improvements in education across the region.
