Focusing Accessible and Conceptual Education (FACE)

About

Focusing on Accessible and Conceptual Education (FACE) is a targeted initiative aimed at enhancing the quality of education in Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) schools across the Kokrajhar district in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), with support from Childaid Network, Germany.

The project strengthens classroom learning through teacher training and extracurricular activities that promote modern, child-centric pedagogical methods. To foster a supportive learning environment, animation sessions are conducted with School Management Committees (SMCs) and parents to create awareness of the New Education Policy (NEP) and clarify their roles in supporting schools. Community educators, aided by teacher volunteers, provide remedial classes for slow learners after regular school hours, while supervisors and teachers also carry out home-based motivational visits to encourage student participation.

The programme further engages with parents, village elders, local leaders, and Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators (CRCCs) through orientation meetings, emphasising the value of quality education. Regular monitoring and supervisory visits, quarterly review meetings with Village Education Committees (VECs) and CRCCs, and monthly SMC meetings ensure continuous tracking of progress and learning outcomes. In addition, the school head and SMC members receive dedicated training in school management. Student learning is assessed systematically through a custom digital application that tracks progress and motivates consistent attendance through interactive activities.

In 2024–2025, a total of 482 students benefited through remedial classes across 25 SSA schools. SMCs reported noticeable improvements in student behaviour and increased interest in academics, indicating the positive impact of the programme in building a sustainable and engaging educational ecosystem in Kokrajhar.
