Bosco Reach Out, Head Office
Bosco Reach Out (BRO), established in 1983, is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization. Its head office is located at Ulubari, Guwahati, Assam. It is the official socio development wing of the Salesian Province of Guwahati, North East India, registered under the Societies Registration Act (SR/BRO 226/83 of 1983). The intervention areas include people’sorganization, microcredit and microenterprisedevelopment, foodsecurity through agriculture and livestockdevelopment, gender, governance, health, partnersupport, ecology and environmentalprotection, youthdevelopment, and marginalizedchildren. BRO in collaboration with partners in development from foreign, central and state governments of India, Corporate, and NGOs implement its project activities in the remote areas of North East India especially in Assam and Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.
Agriculture Training Centre, Joropara
Agriculture Training Centre, Joropara, North Garo Hills district of Meghalaya is a zonal office cum training centre of Bosco Reach Out. It is a nucleus centre, unique of its kind, owning vast area of land, around 300 acres, covering a few hillocks and is utilized as a composite training centre for both vocational, Agriculture, and allied subject.The land is fertile and suitable for various agricultural practices. The centre has various livelihood units like piggery, poultry, apiculture and dairy farm, which provide service demonstration and employment to the farmers of the region. It also has various farm models like homestead farming, horticulture, herbal garden, vermicompost, and rubber plantation.The centre is installed with computers, ISMO machines and other electrical appliances for conducting practical classes under vocational training.It has five class rooms with a 130-seating capacity as well as separate hotels for boys and girls. It also has other facilities like Computer lab, Staff room, Generator/ Backup and Playground.
Moreover, the centre has an independent training section dedicated to conducting various green skill training programs under the project ‘Contribution to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and sustainable improvement of living conditions of marginalized population groups in Joropara and surrounding, Northeast India.’ This section includes a training and administrative building, a training workshop, cafeteria, and hostels (separate for boys and girls).
Socio Developmental Centre, Umrangso
Bosco Reach Out established its new development centre, Socio Developmental Centre, Umrangso with an aims to bring economic and financial sustainability to the rural poor of the region through its intervention. It is located at the border of Assam and Meghalaya states some 112 km from Haflong, the district headquarters of Dima Hasao district of Assam.The centrewill provide employment-based training for the young people of the region and help in alleviating poverty and provide jobs to the local youths of the area. The centre is installed with Computer Lab with 20 computers and accessories. It also has a hall for community meeting and training with the capacity to accommodate 60 people. BRO is interested in community development through SHG formation and strengthening of agriculture and allied sectors. The work has been initiated with the formation of 21 Self Help Groups in the Umrangso area.
